الأحكام التي تتعلق بالميت كثيرة تبدأ بالوصية وتنتهي بصب الماء على قبره والدعاء له والإنصراف عنه، وما بين هذين العنوانين تأتي سلسة من الواجبات والمستحبات والمحرمات والمكروهات وكلها تتعلق بالميت وما يعمل له من تجهيزات وأفعال.
وفي عمق هذه الأحكام يأتي عنوان الغسل والحنوط وما يتعلق بهما وما يستخدم فيهما، وفي إحدى الجلسات مع الفضلاء دار الحديث حول الكافور المستخدم في التنحيط، وتباينت الآراء ووجهات النظر في المراد بالكافور، تمسك البعض بما جاء من بعض الأقوال بكونه جزءٌ خاصاً، وخالفتهم الرأي بأن الكافور مادة تستخرج من عموم أجزاء شجر يعرف بهذا الإسم وأن المناط فيه هو صدق هذا العنوان على المستعمل حقيقةً المتحقق بإستعمال جزء من الشجرة وهو اللحاء أو بباقي الأجزاء منها، ويخرج بذلك المُصنع كيميائياً وإن أطلق عليه كافور إدعاءً.
وانتهى المجلس بتمسك كل طرف بما ذهب، وبما أنها مسألة إبتلائية متجددة ما دام الإنسان محلاً للحوادث من ولادة وصحة ومرض وموت، فكان من الجيد بحثها بما يوضح مستند الأقوال والفتاوى، والإنتهاء إلى ما يرجح من الأقوال.
