Book Description
"ذكر المسعودي في (مروج الذهب) في أخبار النعمان بن المنذر وقتل كسرى إياه، قال: كانت الخرقاء بنت النعمان إذا خرجت إلى بيعتها (أي قريتها) يفرش لها طريقها بالحرير والديباج، مغشى بالخز والوشي، ثم تقبل إلى جواريها حتى تصل إلى بيعتها إلى منزلها. فلما هلك النعمان، نكبها الزمان، فأنزلها من الرفعة إلى الذلة.
ولما وفد سعد بن أبي وقاص القادسية أميراً عليها، وهزم الله الفرس وقتل رستم، فأتت خرقاء بنت النعمان في حفدة من قومها وجواريها وهن في زيها، عليهن المسوح والمقطعات السود مترهبات، تطلب صلته. فلما وقفن بين يديه أنكرهن سعد، فقال: أيكن خرقاء؟ قالت: ها أنا ذه. قال: أنت خرقاء؟ قالت: نعم، فما تكرارك في استفهامي؟ ثم قالت: إن الدنيا دار زوال، ولا تدوم على حال، تنقل أهلها انتقالاً، وتعقبهم بعد حال حالاً. كما ملوك هذا المصر، يجبى لنا خراجه، ويطيعنا أهله، مدى المدة، وزمان الدولة. فلما أدبر الأمر وانقضى، صاح بنا صائح الدهر. يا سعد إنه ليس يأتي قوماً بمسرة إلا ويعقبهم بحسرة. ثم أنشأت تقول: فبينا نسوس الناس والأمر أمرنا، إذا نحن فيهم سوقة ليس نعرف، فأف لدنيا لا يدون نعيمها، تقلب تارات بنا وتصرف. فأكرمها سعد وأحسن جائزتها. ثم خرجت من عنده فلقيها نساء المدينة النصارى، فقلن لها: ما صنع بك الأمير؟ قالت: صان لي ذمتي، وأكرم وجهي، إنما يكرم الكريم الكريما".
هذه قصة من مائتي قصة، رواها هذا الكتاب الذي جاء بعبر ومواعظ خطت بقالب قصصي اتخذ من الكلمة الطيبة مادة لمحتواه فضم قصصاً دينية وأخرى أخلاقية وثالثة اجتماعية ورابعة روت بعض النوادر والطرائف.
