لم يكن هدف هذه الندوة طرح مشروع سياسي وطني متكامل كبديل من مشروع الدولتين، أو صوغ مشروع لدولة ديمقراطية واحدة على أرض فلسطين التاريخية. فإذا كان المشروع الوطني المتمثل في إقامة دولة فلسطينية ذات سيادة على جزء من فلسطين ما زال ممكناً، فإنه يصبح من الضروري بلورة خطط ملموسة لإنجازه بعد أن اتضح فشل استراتيجيا المفاوضات وفشل الرهان على الحلول الدولية، كما تبيّنت محدودية الأفق السياسي للمقاومة المسلحة بالشكل الذي تطرحه القوى التي تتبنى هذا الخيار. أمّا إذا كان مشروع الدولتين قد وصل إلى طريق مسدود، كما باتت تقتنع نسبة متزايدة من الشعب الفلسطيني، فهل البديل هو الدولة الديمقراطية الواحدة التي تجمع الفلسطينيين واليهود الإسرائيليين على أساس المساواة والعدالة، بما ينهي الظلم التاريخي الذي لحق بالشعب الفلسطيني؟ وما هي الاستراتيجيا النضالية المطلوب تبنيها من القوى السياسية الفلسطينية لتوليد حركة مناهضة للصهيونية، بصفتها حركة استعمار استيطاني عنصري، ومناهضة للتمييز العنصري ومؤيدة للعدالة والمساواة وحق تقرير المصير؟ وما هي سبل تحشيد الدعم لمشروع الدولة الديمقراطية الواحدة بين اليهود خارج إسرائيل وبين القوى المناصرة للتحرر والعدالة والمساواة في العالم؟
