لعلماء الإسلام، وخاصة علماء الوقف، آراء في الوقوف على رؤوس الآية في القرآن الكريم، ولكنهم يجمعون على أن الوقف على رؤوس الآية سنة سواء أكان تاماً أم كافياً أم حسناً، ولا يكون أقل من ذلك، وهذا القول مبني على حديث أم سلمة رضي الله عنها عن النبي (ص).
في هذا الكتاب يتناول المؤلف محمد بن شحادة الغول بالدراسة والتحليل أسرار الوقف على رؤوس الآلي، وعلى الفواصل، ويبرز علاقة الآيات ببعضها إعرابيا. ويكشف بشيء من التفصيل عن سر الوقف على رأس كل آية من خلال معرفة معانيها. فكان البحث في إعراب الآيات ومعانيها، وأسرار الوقوف عليها في هذا الكتاب معللاً إعراباً ومعنى مع استخلاص السلوكيات المستوحاة من سور القرآن الكريم.
وهكذا يدرس الكتاب (38) سورة من القرآن الكريم ويقف على أسرار الوقف على رؤوس الآي فيها، والعلاقات اللغوية بينها، والسلوكيات المستوحاة منها.
ومن السور التي درسها الكتاب نذكر: سورة الفاتحة، سورة الناس، سورة الفلق، سورة الإخلاص، سورة المسد، سورة النصر، سورة الكافرون، سورة الكوثر، سورة الماعون، سورة قريش، سورة الفيل، سورة الهمزة، سورة العصر ( ...) سورة النبأ.
