كتاب "العقد الفريد في أساسيات التجويد" لمؤلفه "محمد بن شحاده الغول" يشتمل على كل صغيرة وكبيرة في علم التجويد والوقف والإبتداء، وغالب الرسم العثماني برواية حفص عن عاصم من طريق الشاطبية. وهذا العمل اختصار لأساسيات التجويد للمبتدئين في هذا العلم، ويوضع أكثر فضل تلاوة القرآن ومدارسه، وآداب تلاوة القرآن، ومبادئ علم التجويد، ويدرس الفرق بين الحروف المتحركة والساكنة، ومراتب التلاوة، وأحكام الوقف والإبتداء مثل: الوقف على كلا، الوقف على بلى، الوقف على نعم، والوقف على أواخر الكلمات، ومخارج الحروف، وصفات الحروف، وأحكام الراء، اللام، ألف المد، ثم أحكام النون الساكنة والتنوين، وأحكام المد، والإدغام، وقواعد الرسم العثماني الى آخر ذلك من أساسيات علم التجويد والذي هو من أهم العلوم الشرعية المتعلقة بالقرآن الكريم.
يذكر أن الكاتب ذكر في مقدمة هذا الكتاب أن من أراد الاستزادة من هذا العلم. والتفصيل أكثر، أن يعود الى كتابه السابق "بغية عباد الرحمن".
