ملا صدرا محمد بن إبراهيم القوامي الشيرازي، جمع بين فرعي المعرفة النظري والعملي.ينسب إليه نهج الجمع بين الفلسفة والعرفان والذي يسمى بالحكمة المتعالية. كان طرحه متطورا جدا وفاق حدود عصره مما صعب على معاصريه أن يقبلوه فلاقى من معاصريه صنوف المضايقات بسبب ذلك فكَفر ورمي بأبشع التهم حتى طرد من بلدته, فما كان منه إلا أن هجر القوم إلى القرى النائية منقطعا إلى الرياضة الروحية حتى تجلت له العلوم الباطنية ف ملا صدرا محمد بن إبراهيم القوامي الشيرازي، جمع بين فرعي المعرفة النظري والعملي.ينسب إليه نهج الجمع بين الفلسفة والعرفان والذي يسمى بالحكمة المتعالية. كان طرحه متطورا جدا وفاق حدود عصره مما صعب على معاصريه أن يقبلوه فلاقى من معاصريه صنوف المضايقات بسبب ذلك فكَفر ورمي بأبشع التهم حتى طرد من بلدته, فما كان منه إلا أن هجر القوم إلى القرى النائية منقطعا إلى الرياضة الروحية حتى تجلت له العلوم الباطنية فعاد على البشرية بحكمته المتعالية. يعرف أيضا بـ صدر المتألهين.
مدرسة صدر المتألهين الفلسفية تشبه المدرسة الإشراقية من حيث الأسلوب، بمعنى أنه يعتقد بالاستدلال والكشف والشهود معا؛ لكنها تختلف عنها من الناحية الأصولية ومن حيث الاستنتاجات، وفضلا عما حققته مدرسة صدر المتألهين من المسائل الخلافية بين المدرسة المشائية و الإشراقية، فإن المسائل الخلافية بين الفلسفة والعرفان، أو الفلسفة وعلم الكلام قد حُلت عند صدر المتألهين تماما.
تمكن صدر المتألهين من استيعاب ما وصل من الفلسفة عن قدماء اليونان خصوصا ما أُثِر عن إفلاطون وأرسطو، وكذلك ما تركه حكماء المسلمين أمثال الفارابي وابن سينا وشيخ الإشراق، وما أضافوه على الفلسفة مستعينا على ذلك بعرفانه الكبير وقوته وهدايته الباطنية. وقد تمكن من نظم مسائل الفلسفة بأسلوب رياضي يعتمد فيه كل موضوع على الآخر ويستنبط منه، وبذا أخرج الفلسفة من طرق الاستدلال المتناثرة.
