أخرج جينيه عام 1950 فيلمه الوحيد " أنشودة الحب " الذي يحمل عالمه الشعري برمته، فرضت عليه الرقابة، ومنع لسنوات عدة.
تعد أعمال جان جينيه المسرحية من الأعمال الأكثر تمثيلاً في العالم.
بعد إنقضاء عشرين عاماً على رحيله، يشهد اليوم الذين إعترضوا طريقه لصالح الإنقلاب الذي أحدثه جينيه في مجتمعنا.
أجتهد لإظهار أن الخير والشر لا يمكن فصلهما، وشارك في نقاشات نضالية، وتطوع مع حركة الفهود السود والمضطهدين والفلسطينين المسلوبي الحقوق، وكان على الدوام إلى جانب المتمردين على سلطة البيض وعلى البرجوازيين.
