عَرفت سورية إرهاصات قوية في بدايات القرن العشرين، انتجت حياة سياسية مزدهرة ومن شتى التوجهات العقائدية والفكرية في نهاية المطاف، وكان لها الأثر الواضح في نشأة الحزب الشيوعي السوري كحزب سياسي، امتلك الرؤية الاضحة لمختلف القضايا التي مرت بها سورية منذ التأسيس وإلى اليوم.
في هذا الكتاب يدرس نواف محمد مراد موقف الحزب الشيوعي السوري من القضية الكوردية في سورية، الأمر الذي أدى إلى تقلص نفوذ الحزب الشيوعي السوري بعد أن كان قد استحوذ على الحصة الأكبر من الاهتمام، فضلاً عن الدور البارز الذي قام به الحزب الشيوعي ومساهمته في تغيير دفة الأحداث في البلاد على الصعيد الوطني... من هنا أراد المؤلف استجلاء ما اكتنف موقف الحزب من الغموض، والتأويلات المتعددة التي طالته بين معارض ومؤيد لها.
تبدأ الدراسة بتمهيد هو بيان للخلفية والأرضية للتاريخ السوري عامة والتاريخ الكوردي المعاصر خاصة، وركز الفصل الأول على تأسيس الحزب الشيوعي السوري والموقف من الكورد خلال المدة (1924-1938م) وتناول، ظروف التأسيس والمؤسسون الأوائل وبرنامج الحزب السياسي ونشاطاته، ووصول الأفكار الشيوعية إلى المناطق الكوردية في سورية، وانتخاب الكوردي خالد بكداش أميناً عاماً للحزب في العام 1937م. واهتم الفصل الثاني، بموقف الحزب الشيوعي السوري من القضية الكوردية للفترة (1937-1949م)، ومشاركته الشيوعيين والكورد في الحركة الوطنيةة السورية من أجل الاستقلال، وتوسع نشاطات الحزب الشيوعي داخل المناطق الكوردية، والموقف الكوردي والشيوعي من حكومات العهد الوطني 1946-1949م. واحتوى الفصل الثالث من الدراسة، على موقف الحزب الشيوعي السوري من تطور القضية الكوردية للفترة (1949-1951م)، وموقف الحزبين الشيوعي والكوردي من الانقلابات العسكرية (1949-1954)، والموقف من تأسيس الحزب الديمقراطي الكوردي في سورية في العام 1957م. أما الفصل الرابع والأخير فتناول، موقف الحزب الشيوعي إزاء مسألةِ الوحدة السورية-المصرية (1958-1961م)، والموقف الشيوعي والكوردي من حكومة "الانفصال" (1961-1963م)، وأخيراً خاتمة تتبعت أهم مجريات الأحداث السياسية للفترة التي تناولتها الدراسة...
