معظم هذه المواعظ جرى إلقاؤها في أبرشيات الجامعة والكلية على نحو ما جرى بالنسبة للكتابين السابقين "زعزعة الأساسات" و "الوجود الجديد" والمجموعة الحالية ترجع إلى الفترة الممتدة من 1955 إلى 1963 وعنوان الكتاب "الآن الأبدي" مستمد من موعظة من القسم الثاني من الكتاب وهو يشير إلى أن حضور (الأبدي) وسط ما هو زماني هي تأكيد حاسم في معظم المواعظ، وكان يمكنني أن أختار (الحضور الروحي) كعنوان عام، غير أن الدلالات غير المستحبة العديدة الواردة في كلمة (روحي) تلقى بثقل ضاغط مما أدى إلى استبعاد هذه الإمكانية، ولا توجد سوى موعظة معينة وقد فسرت كل جملة فيها معنى ما هو (روحي) هو الذي أفضى إلى إمكانية استخدام هذه الكلمة.
