هناك إرتباط قدري بين أي ثورة والسياق التاريخي المحدد لها، يماثل تماماً العلاقة بين النص والسياق؛ لذا جاءت الأبواب الثلاثة التي تشكل منها الكتاب نتاجاً طبيعياً لهذه الرؤية الحتمية.. إذ كان لابد من تقديم الرؤية المصرية لكل التحولات العالمية التي تحدث حولها، كخطوة أساسية لفهم السياق التاريخي، الذي حدثت فيه ثورة 25 يناير في الباب الأول من الكتاب..
بينما خصص الباب الثاني لمعالجة نظرية التحول الديموقراطي، وتوضيح الثغرات التي واجهها ذلك التحول، عندما حاولت ثورة 25 يناير تفكيك أركان النظام السياسي الإستبدادي السابق ومقاومته للإصلاحات الديمقراطية الضرورية.
أما الباب الثالث فقد خصصه المؤلف لمتابعة أحداث ثورة 25 يناير نفسها؛ للكشف عن بواعث قيامها ودلالاتها ومستقبل التوجه الديموقراطي في مصر، مثبتاً أن الثورة وحدها هي التي يمكن أن تنقل الشعوب من الديكتاتورية إلى الديموقراطية....
