في هذا الكتاب سنتناول أربع ملاحم كبرى خالدة اثنتين منهما خلبتا أفئدة العالم في كل مكان، وهما رائعتا التراث الهندي الملحمي "المهابهاراتا" و"الرامايانا" حيث سحر الخيال وروعة السرد وجمال القصيد وما بهما من أحداث وأبطال أسطوريين، ومزج عجيب بين الواقع والخيال، التاريخ والأسطورة. وكما هو الحال في الملاحم تشكل القصة الموضوع الرئيسي للمهابهاراتا والرامايانا.. وتتخلل القصة في كل منهما الكثير والكثير من الحكايات الفلسفية الهندية. كما تشتمل أيضًا على مقاطع عن فن الحكم والحكومة الصالحة، وعدد من القصص الشعبية الأخرى.
وفي هذا الكتاب أيضًا ملحمتان أخريان وهما "قلعة دمدم" و"مم وزين" وتنتميان للأدب الكردي، وكانتا دائمًا محور اهتمام العالم، ولا يزال فنانو الغرب يقدموناهما في أعمال فنية مسرحية وأوبرالية حتى الآن لما فيهما من قصص ساحرة، وشخصيات أكثر سحرًا، وأحداث ملحمية رائعة تدور في جو مثير يمتزج فيه الواقع بالخيال، وتسيطر عليه الأسطورة، التي تقود الأحداث من البداية وحتى.... النهاية.
