أسفر التنقير والتفتيش في النصوص المتناثرة عن جمع عدد من المسائل والقضايا اللغوية العامة والخاصة باللغة العربية, وتيسيراً لدرسها والنظر فيها أدرجتها في بابين: يختص أولهما بالقضايا اللغوية العامة, وثانيهما بالقضايا الخاصة باللغة العربية.
أما الباب الأول فقد تناولت فيه القضايا اللغوية العامة وهي اللغة والفكر والعلاقة بينهما, ونشأة اللغة بشقيها المنطوق والكتوب, وتطور اللغة, والصوت العام, والصوت اللغوي, والاكتساب اللغوي. ثم أنهيت الباب بالفصل الأخير الذي يتناول ماهية كل من اللفظ والمعنى, وأهمية كل منهما.
واشتمل الباب الثاني على القضايا العربية, هي: أفضلية العربية, أصلها وتطورها: أصواتها, وألفبائيتها, الخط العربي, ثم أنهيت الباب بالفصل الخامس الذي يتناول من قضايا اللفظ والمعنى. ثم أنهيت هذا الكتاب بخاتمة اشتملت على خلاصة البحث ونتائجه.
