يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن رمز في القيم والوطنية والعروبة والنضال ضد الاستعمار: سلطان باشا الأطرش، أحد قادة الثورة العربية الكبرى، وقائد ثورة سنة 1922 على الفرنسيين، وقائد الثورة السورية الكبرى ضد الفرنسيين في سنة 1925، وبطل انتفاضة الشعب السوري على الطغيان في سنة 1945.
ويتحدث الكتاب عن ثورة عام 1925، التي أعلنها وقادها سلطان، والتي اكتسبت صفة "الكبرى" لأنها أكبر الثورات على الإنتداب من حيث إتساع رقعتها وشمولها معظم مناطق سورية وبعض مناطق لبنان، ومن حيث طول مدتها، وتنظيمها، وضخامة الخسائر البشرية والمادية فيها، وعظم تأثيرها إذ مهدت السبيل لإستقلال سورية.
وكان للدروز الإسهام الاكبر فيها، وهذا يبرز دورهم الجهادي والعروبي، الذي يقوم به الخلق من كل جيل إقتداءً بالسلف منذ أكثر من ألف عام.
كما يتحدث الكتاب بتوسع عن إمتداد الثورة السورية الكبرى إلى لبنان، وإشتراك اللبنانيين والسوريين معاً في معركة التحرّر، وفي هذا أحد الأدلة على ترابط أوضاعهم، وعلى مصيرهم المشترك.
