في جديده "مرابع عشق" بدا جمال مدلج عاشقاً ليس للمرأة وحسب، بل عاشقاً أصيلاً للشعر وأهله يرفل سياقته بالندى، والصورة، والخيال، والرؤى، فيبدأ مرابعه بـ "بَسملةْ .." : سأقول أعوذ بربة عمر / لأرسم وجهاً لرب الفلقْ / من سحر ما خلقْ / ومن طيب العابرات في الشفق / ومن وحي شاعرٍ إذا صدق ". ومن هذه البسملة يعلن الشاعر عن نفسه ويصرح بالضمير الأنوي عن ضجيج النفس في حالة العشق، يكتب للمرأة ويبوح لها بسرائره "سأقول أحبك، / حتى يهدأ منيني ، / بركاني .. / سأقول أحبك، / حتى يلدَ الزبدُ القادم منك / إلى موجي، / في هذا العالم، / عنواني .. / سأقول أحبك في صوتي، / وأقول أحبك في صمتي / وأقول أحبك (...) من ذاتي ...". هذه الصور تنساب في النص عبر منظومة من الأداءات التعبيرية الحسية، والتراكيب اللغوية، والإشارات المتقاربة في أن أنسجتها البنائية وشعريبتها التي على ما يبدو تتجه بقيماتها الدلالية والإيحائية إلى معاني الحبّ حتى التماهي مع الآخر (المرأة) بوصفها ذاتاً لصيقة بالشاعر، وروحاً تمنح الحياة له.
يضم الكتاب ما يزيد عن الستين قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "بسملة" ، "بوح البدء" ، "إسم .. في أدب البحر" ، "قطرة من بوح الحلم" ، "سرُّ الخوابي" ، "علامة ليل فارقة" ، "إحتفالية عيد" ، "حوار البحر" ، "أسفار عيد .. واعتذار" ، "عناقيد الفرح" ، "نخبك" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
