يمثل عدم وجود إتفاقية دولية تعنى بحماية البيئة في أوقات النزاعات المسلحة، مشكلة متفاقمة ذات أبعاد متعددة، ففي ظل تغير طبيعة النزاعات المسلحة منذ نهايات القرن العشرين، والتطور المستمر للأسلحة المستخدمة في النزاعات المسلحة، نحو أسلحة أكثر فتكاً وتدميراً، والتسابق للإستيلاء على الموارد الطبيعية وإساءة إستخدامها وتبديد الثروات الطبيعة للدول التي تمتلك هذه الثروات، من خلال الحروب التي تحدث بالوكالة هنا وهناك... كل هذا أدى إلى جعل حماية البيئة في أوقات النزاعات المسلحة القضية الأكثر تعقيداً على مر العصور.
ونتناول في هذا المؤلف دراسة معمقة تحليلية لإتفاقيات القانون الدولي الإنساني المتعلقة بحماية البيئة سواء بشكل مباشر أو غير مباشر، لتحديد الفجوات في نظام الحماية المذكور ودراسة إمكانية ملء هذه الفجوات بالرجوع إلى إتفاقيات القانون البيئي الدولي التي ثبت من خلال دراسة نصوصها في هذا الكتاب، بأن القاعدة هي سريانها في وقت الحرب والسلم ما لم يثبت خلاف ذلك، وذلك لسد النقص الحاصل في الآليات القانونية القائمة لحماية البيئة في أوقات النزاعات المسلحة.

عملت المؤلفة على تدريس مادة القانون الدولي الإنساني والقانون الدولي العام لطلبة الدراسات الأولية، والدراسات العليا في كلية القانون 2003- 2017 ونشرت العديد من البحوث في القانون البيئي الدولي والقانون الدولي الإنساني، كما عملت مشاور قانوني في رئاسة جامعة القادسية ومشاور قانوني في اللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر، وقد أشرفت على العديد من الرسائل والأطاريح في القانون الدولي العام.
