يمكن كشف العقدة من السلوك ومن ملاحظة وكشف السلوك يمكن إدراك أو تأويل ما يحول بفكر وعقل الشخص، وسنتوقف هنا مع بعض العقد النفسية المعروفة، وسنلاحظ سلوكيات يمكن أن نجدها في كثير ممن هم حولنا أو حتى فينا بالذات، فالعقدة ليست كما تصورها الأفلام ويفسرها المجتمع، بشخص لايتحدث مع أحد أو يبدو غريباً أو غامضاً تصاحبه دائماً نظرات غضب وحزن، فالعقدة يمكن أن نشبهها بنسبة معينة من الماء داخل قنينة والقنينة هي الوعي، قد تزيد نسبة الماء "العقدة" فتشغل حيزاً كبيراً من القنينة (الوعي)، أو حتى تزيد بنسبة أكبر من الحيز فينسكب الماء خارج القنينة، وتخرج من سيطرة الوعي كما خرج الماء، ساعتها تتحول لما يعرف بالإنفصامات أو الإكتئاب أو الوساوس القهرية، ويمكن أن تظل العقدة مجرد نسبة قليلة (من الماء) لا تشغل حيزاً كبيراً بالقنينة (العقل المفكر)، فنحن جميعاً نعاني من العقد خاصة في المجتمع الإستعراضي الإستهلاكي الحالي ولا نختلف سوى بالنسب، فأي شخص تجده يرغب أن يكون محبوباً أو يصبح نجماً أو يقدم تضحية أو يكتشف شيئاً أو يساهم في عمل كبير دون الحديث عن من يرغبون بإنقاذ البشرية أو تدميرها أو يصيروا الموضوع الذي يشغل اهتمام الجرائد والتلفاز، أو ذوي نفوذ وسلطة لا تضاهى إلخ... وحسب الظروف أو ذكاء الشخص، قد تصبح هذه الأمور واقعاً أو تظل مجرد أماني أو تتحول لعقد وهلاوس.
