تحدث القرآن الكريم عن الحضانة بشكل عام منذ فجر الإنسانية، ومن أقدم الخطابات الإلهية في هذا المورد وعد الله – عزّ وجلّ – لنبي الله آدم – عليه السلام – حيث عبر له في بدء خليقته عن حفظه ورعايته والقيام بشؤونه، بقوله تعالى: ﴿إِنَّ لَكَ أَلَّا تَجُوعَ فِيهَا وَلَا تَعْرَى (118) وَأَنَّكَ لَا تَظْمَأُ فِيهَا وَلَا تَضْحَى (119)﴾... [سورة طه].
ويتجلى أهمية الرعاية في مرحلة الحضانة في شأن مريم – عليها السلام – حيث قال الله – تعالى – في كفالتها: " ﴿ فَتَقَبَّلَهَا رَبُّهَا بِقَبُولٍ حَسَنٍ وَأَنْبَتَهَا نَبَاتًا حَسَنًا ﴾... [سورة آل عمران: آية 37]
وفيها إشارة واضحة لرعاية نبي الله زكريا عليه السلام لشؤون مريم عليها السلام في مرحلة الحضانة، ومن خلال هذين النصين المباركين تتضح أهمية رعاية الإنسان في أولى مراحل وجوده في الحياة، لأن الطفل المحضون هو أحد أفراد المجتمع، والذي بحفظه يُحفظ المجتمع، وبالتالي البشرية بأجمعها، وهو مصداق بارز من مصاديق إحياء الناس جميعاً.
