يضمّ الكتاب شرحاً لما ورد في الباب الرابع من كتاب "مغني اللبيب" وفيه يبين ويوضح الشارح ما يعرف به الاسم من الخبر وما يعرف به الفاعل من المفعول وما افترق فيه عطف البيان والبدل وما افترق فيه اسم الفاعل والصفة المشبهة وما افترق فيه الحال والتمييز وما اجتمعا فيه منتقلاً من ثم لشرح أقسام الحال وإعراب أسماء الشرط والاستفهام ونحوها ومسوغات الابتداء بالنكرة وأقسام العطف، وعطف الخبر وعلى الإنشاء وبالعكس، وعطف الاسمية على الفعلية وبالعكس، والعطف على معمولي عاملين، المواضع التي يعود الضمير فيها على متأخر لفظ أو رتبة، شرح حال الضمير المسمى فصلاً وعماداً، روابط الجملة بما هي خبر عنه، الأشياء التي تحتاج إلى الربط، الأمور التي يكتسبها الاسم بالإضافة، الأمور التي لا يكون الفعل معها قاصراً، الأمور التي يتعدى بها الفعل القاصر.
