يضم هذا المؤلف في طياته كتاب "مغني اللبيب" المشتمل على ذخائر اللغة العربية والكنوز الأدبية. وقد عمل أحمد المعصومي على تهذيبه، في هذا الكتاب، آخذاً طريق الاعتدال مجانباً عن التفريط والإفراط، فخلاّه عن بعض الإضافات، وأضاف مكانها شواهد من (نهج البلاغة) لسيد الفصحاء، وأستاذ البلغاء عليّ كرم الله وجهه. وقد أضاف أيضاً شواهد من بعض أشعار الأدباء مما فيه الحكم والآثار وقد سمّاه بـ"مهذب مغني اللبيب".
