الفن اللبناني، كما نظرنا إليه ودوناه وحققنا في مسيرته، ليس حدثاً ثانوياً في حياة اللبناني، بل يكاد يكون الجزء المتقدم من كينونته وشخصيته الخصبة ولهذا كان علينا أن نذهب صوب الحقيقة بأوجهها المتعددة، أي التاريخية، والموضوعية، والجمالية منتجين كتاباً نتمنى أن يصير مقدمة لمشاريع أخرى تتوسع في بحث المعنى التأصيلي للفن اللبناني عبر أكثر من قرنين ونيف من الزمن علماً أننا ومن خلال معطيات محددة بالزمان والفسحة والإمكانات قدمنا عملاً يحاول قدر الإمكان أن يعطي فكرة موضوعية عن الحركة الفنية التشكيلية في لبنان.
