يعد كريم أحد أهم شعراء قصيدة النثر المصرية، كما أنه يعد أحد المشاركين فى رصدها، ومتابعتها، فهو صاحب مجلة "شعر" المصرية التي كانت تهتم بالقصيدة النثرية، كما أن له وجهة نظر مهمة في المشهد الشعري العربي والمصري، برواده السابقين وأصحابه الحالين.
