لا شك أن كثرة الدراسات الأدبية حول الشعر الجاهلى تدفع الدارس إلى التوقف طويلاً أمام تحليل واحد من نصوصه، أو أحدى الظواهر المتعلقة به. وفى زحام هذه الدراسات ظهرت الإتجاهات الرمزية للتعرف على مزيد من طبيعة عالم الجاهلية. واستقراء جوانبها والإلمام بكل أطرافها. وبقيت الجوانب النفسية مجالاً آخر رحباً يقبل الحوار وينتظر مزيداً من المناقشة سواء على غرار ما طرحه دارسو المقدمات فى محاولاتهم المتعددة لتفسير ما وراءها من أسرار أو ما جاء على مستوى دراسة القصيدة الجاهلية من خلال الذاتية والغيرية أو سواهما من واقع التزام شعرائها بقضايا العصر، ومادة البيئة منذ حوارهم حول سلطان القبلية فى نفوسهم إلى حفاظهم على "العقد الفنى" الذى انتهى بهم إلى لغة مكررة لم يكن الشاعر منهم ليتردد فى تكرارها دون خوف أو حذر من تكرار نفسه أو حتى تكرار الآخرين من قرنائه ومعاصريه أو من أسلافه وأساتذة جيله.
ومن هنا كانت بداية تبلور فكرة هذا البحث الموجز فبدت -فى أبسط صورها- أشبه ماتكون باستكمال إحدى حلقات هذا الإتجاه. ومن هنا أيضاً كانت مادة البحث رهناً باعتبارت خاصة يتعلق بعضها بواقع نصوص المعلقات دون سواها من المجموعات الشعرية خشية اتساع رقعته إلا من خلال عديد من دراسات أخرى تبنى نفس الإتجاه، لتنتهى لصالح الظاهرة، أو حتى لتأخذ منها موقفاً آخر.
