يهدف كتاب " التوجيه المدرسي" إلى تقديم فكرة واضحة المعالم عن دور التوجيه في المدرسة الذي تناولت الوحدة الأولى من الكتاب نشأته وأهدافه ومبرراته وأسسه، ثم ينتقل الكتاب في الوحدتين الثانية والثالثة إلى مراحل النمو والتنشئة الاجتماعية وتعريفها وسماتها وأساليبها معدداً المؤسسات ذات العلاقة بالتنشئة الاجتماعية.
ثم يعرّج بعد ذلك على الأساليب الفنية لجمع المعلومات والتوجيه المدرسي وماهية التوجيه الجماعي وأهدافه في الوحدة الرابعة وفي الوحدة الخامسة والسادسة والسابعة يوضح الكتاب نشأة التوجيه المهني وتعريفه وأهدافه، ثم يذكر أهداف التوجيه التربوي والمنهاج المدرسي ومشكلات التحصيل الدراسي وأهمية الإرشاد النفسي وخصائص المرشد الفعّال.
ثم ينبه الكتاب في الوحدة الثامنة والتاسعة إلى أهمية التوجيه المدرسي ودور المدرسة في المحافظة على النظام والانضباط المدرسي وذلك من خلال عناوين:
أهمية التوجيه المدرسي، علامات استواء الصحة المدرسية، دور كل من مدير المدرسة والمرشد والأهل في تحقيق هذا النظام.
