يعتبر علم الإقتصاد من العلوم الإجتماعية التي تدرس واقع الإنسان والمجتمع، فهو حديث الماضي، وموضوع اليوم، ورؤيا المستقبل، فكأنه كائن حي يسير في إتجاه تتغير أحواله ومعطياته تبعاً للتغيرات التي تحدث في المجتمع، فهو حديث الجميع (إقتصادي أو غير إقتصادي) لأنه يخص الجوانب الحياتية، والمعيشة لكل من يدب على هذه الأرض.
ومن هذا المنطلق أصبح فهم هذه الأحداث والمتغيرات المتجددة، يتطلب من الباحثين والدارسين والمهتمين في الشؤون الإقتصادية التعرف على الأسس والقواعد والنظريات وأدوات التحليل المختلفة التي يستند إليها علم الإقتصاد لتطبيقها على الواقع الإقتصادي الحالي لتحقيق الأهداف المختلفة التي يسعى إليها الفرد والمجتمع.
ولهذا كله عالج المؤلف في هذا الكتاب الصعوبات التي تواجه الطلاب من خلال تبسيط المعلومات وتوضيحها، من خلال ضرب الأمثلة المختلفة من الواقع العملي، والإكثار من الأسئلة والتمارين ومساعدة الطالب على التعرف على الحل المناسب، وإعطاء فرصة أيضاً ليجرب بنفسه أن يقوم بالإجابة على الأسئلة والتمارين الغير محلولة المتنوعة الأسلوب والموضوع.
لهذا عمل على تقسيم الكتاب إلى ثلاثة أقسام: أولاً القسم الأول: تعريف الطالب والدارس للألمام بالإطار النظري والفكري وما يتضمنه من مفاهيم إقتصادية هي بناء أساسي للنظرية الإقتصادية التحليلية؛ ثانياً: القسم الثاني: التحليل الإقتصادي وإستخدام أدواته المختلفة في التطبيق على الحالات والظواهر الإقتصادية المختلفة على مستوى الفرد المستهلك؛ والقسم الثالث: يهدف إلى معالجة سلوك المنتج من خلال التحليل لنظرية المنتج (الإنتاج).
