غير أن محمد جويلى يمضى بنا إلى ما وراء البنية، لنعاين ما نتيجة البنية من تعبيرات ثقافية، تنتظيم فيها أنساق القيم المعنوية والرموز، التى توجه بدورها أفعال الفاعلين اجتماعياً وتعطيها شرعية الوجود. وبذا قربنا محمد جويلى من حسن إدراك تحولات صراع "الأحرار والشواشين" الطرفين الرئيسيين فى قرية المنشية للهيمنة على "المعنى" وتجلياته.
