غير أن "محمد جويلى" يمضى بنا إلى ما وراء البنية، لنعاين ما تنتجه البنية من تعبيرات ثقافية، تنتظم فيها أنساق القيم المعنوية والرموز، التى توجه بدورها أفعال الفاعلين إجتماعياً وتعطيها شرعية الوجود، وبذا قربنا محمد جويلى من حسن إدراك قرية المنشية، للهيمنة على "المعنى" وتجلياته.
كما عرفنا أن الفوارق العرقية ليست حدوداً مادية ما هى حواجز دلالية ورمزية ولغوية، وإذا كان قد انطلق من مبدأ أن الهوية ليست جوهراً ثابتاً، وإنما عملية صيرورة أحد فواعلها الثقافية، فإنه يفاجئنا بإستخلاص يفيد بأن الإشتراك فى ثقافة لا يعنى، بالضرورة، اشتراكاً فى الهوية، كما أمام التساؤل حول إمكانية أن يتحول فعل إجتماعى، كالثأر من عنيف إلى فعل رمزى!
