لقد بين الله ورسوله أن الإيمان أفضل الأعمال كما قال سبحانه: "أجعلتم سقاية الحاج وعمارة المسجد الحرام كمن آمن بالله واليوم الآخر وجاهد فى سبيل الله لا يستوون عند الله والله لا يهدي القوم الظالمين". وأخرج البخاري ومسلم عن أبي هريرة (رضى الله عنه) أن الرسول (صلى الله عليه وسلم) سئل: أى العمل أفضل؟ فقال عليه الصلاة والسلام: "إيمان بالله ورسوله, قيل ثم ماذا؟ قال: جهاد فى سبيله".
والإيمان هو الأساس الذى يربط العبد بربه, ويثمر الحب والخوف منه سبحانه, ويحفز العبد على الاندفاع إلى الطاعات واجتناب المعاصى. وبه يفوز المؤمنون فى الدنيا والآخرة.
ولقد عرفنا الله ورسوله بأن الإيمان يشتمل على اليقين القائم على الدليل وعلى الشهادة بما استقر فى القلب من يقين, وعلى الإسلام والانقياد لله ورسوله, وأبحاثنا فى هذا الكتاب ستشمل بإذن الله ذلك كله وفق المنهج القرآنى والنبوى, الذى يقدم القضية بأدلتها المقنعة ويهيج القلب بمواعظه المؤثرة, ويجعل من الغيب صورة حسية مشاهدة.
