تشهد العلوم وجود تفاعلات فيما بينها، كثيرا ما تقع بين العلوم الدقيقة والعلوم الإنسانية، وقد يبلغ عمق التفاعل بين علمين مستوى كبيرا إلى الحد الذي يستقي أحدهما من الآخر مرجعيته النّظرية، وأدواته الإجرائية، بل إنّه كثيرا ما يتوسّل بجهازه المُصطلحي، فيستمد منه تسميات ومُصطلحات يعبّر بها عن مفاهيمه الناشئة، وفق ما يُعرف بالاقتراض المُصطلحي. ولكنّ هذه المصطلحات المقترضة الوافدة إلى المجال الجديد لا تلبث أن تُستعار بدورها من هذا المجال الجديد إلى مجال ثالث، فتنشأ جراء ذلك حركة مفهومية تأخذ مسارين متعاكسين أحيانا، بحيث يحصل هناك استيراد وتصدير للمفاهيم والتسميات من المجالات معرفي إلى آخر. وترسم المُصطلحات بذلك حركة مفهومية ومصطلحية عابرة تتضاعف وتتكاثف لتجسّد هجرة مُصطلحية مختلفة الاتجاهات. وهذه الحركة المصطلحية لا تكون اعتباطية في الغالب، إذ تبرّر وفقا لاعتبارات معيّنة لعلّ أبرزها أنّ المفهوم المستحدَث في مجال علمي ما كثيرا ما يكون مشابها لمفهوم آخر في مجال آخر، ولو في سمة مفهومية واحدة، فيدفع ذلك التشابه بمستحدِث المفهوم إلى استعارة التسمية الموجودة سابقا في المجال العلمي الآخر
