كانت أمّ كلّثوم صوتاً وكاسيتاً وموعداً إذاعياً، وهي ستصبح لاحقاً ظاهرة في أعمال الرسامين العرب وغيرهم (بعض الأرمن والأمازيغ) في التسعينيات، بأسلوب، في جانبٍ منه، هو إمتداد لآنديوارهول الساخر والتهكّميّ من الواقع، أو من إيحاءات أعماله، وفي جانب آخر تمجّيديّ أو تكريميّ وحزبيّ وحنينيّ.
رسم أمّ كلّثوم يعبّر، عن الشعور الجماعيّ لمجموعة من الفَنَّانين، ليس في نقد المجتمع الإستهلاكيّ وجموحه، بل هو نوع من هوية، فظاهرة رسمها سواء في لوحات زيّتية أو على طريقة البوب آرت، أتتْ في معظمها في زمن متأخّر على إستهلاكها وتقديسها، وإن كانتْ أسطواناتها لا تزال حاضرة في الأسواق دون أن ننسى دخولها مجال اليوتيوب بدفعٍ قوي.
