يحتوي هذا الجزء على أغانٍ متعددة، تشمل بعض المراحل التي مرت بها كوكب الشرق (سيدة الغناء العربي الراحلة أم كلثوم) طيلة حياتها.
ولقد تم اختيار بعض الأغاني، مع الإعتناء بالأداء النموذجي للأغاني، الملحنة من قبل عمالقة التلحين في القرن العشرين، كرياض السنباطي، ومحمد القصبجي، ومحمد عبد الوهاب، وبليغ حمدي، وغيرهم من الملحنين الكبار.
تميزت سيدة الغناء العربي كما هو معرروف بما يلي: "درست اللغة العربية على أصولها، وتمكنت من أداء مخارج الألفاظ استناداً لأحكام التجويد"، "قرأت الكثير من دواوين الشعر العربي لفحول الشعراء العرب"، "كانت ذات ثقافة عامة واسعة لإحتكاكها الدائم والمباشر بالفعاليات الفنية والأدبية"، "تلقت العلوم الموسيقية على يد كبار علمائها، من مقامات موسيقية، وأصول الغناء بها، والتدرج فيها بإيقاعاتها المختلفة وضروبها المتنوعة"، "كان لها دور مباشر في اختيار النصوص الغنائية، ورأي في صياغة بعض الجمل اللحنية"، "حافظت على المساحات الصوتية العريضة لفترة طويلة من حياتها"، "كان لها خصوصيتها وأسلوبها المميز في الأداء المعبر عن النص المغنّى"، "يوضح إختلاف الأداء والتكرارات فيه من حقل إلى آخر، باعها الطويل، ومقدرتها على حسن التصرف، وغنى خيالها المبدع".
وبناءً على ذلك، قمنا بتكليف الأستاذ محمد عاطف خياطة، المدرس بمعاهد إعداد المدرسين والمعلمين بحلب حالياً، والذي قاد العديد من الفرق الموسيقية، وأسهم في إنشاء وإدارة المعهد الموسيقي في بنغازي بالجماهيرية الليبية، بإعداد هذا الكتاب، ليتمكن الشباب العربي من متابعة هذا التراث الفني، بسهولة ويسر، إسهاماً في حفظه من الضياع.
