يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى خدمة الناطقين باللغة العربية بزيادة المعرفة والعمق الأكاديمى فى بعض المجالات النووية سواء المتخصصين أو اللذين تستهويهم الرغبة فى تنمية ثقافتهم فى تلك الفروع العلمية المتقدمة. ويشتمل هذا الكتاب على أربعة أقسام. يعالج القسم الأول اليورانيوم والعصر النووى، حيث يشتمل على خواص اليورانيوم وتطبيقاته المختلفة واستخدامته فى الأغراض السلمية والعسكرية. كذلك يشتمل على التطور النووى خلال فترة تزيد على قرن من الزمان بما فيه من اكتشافات هامة وأحداث جسام منذ اكتشاف اليورانيوم والإشعاع إلى ضرب الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية مدينتى هيروشيما وناجازاكى اليابنيتين بالقنابل الذرية. كذلك يناقش أيضاً تطور الإستخدامات السلمية والعسكرية لليورانيوم فى دول النادى النووى ويشتمل الجزء الأخير من هذا القسم على موضوع شيق وهام ألا وهو: قصة القنبلة الذرية بداية من تاريخ القنبلة الذرية ومشروع منهاتن.
ويشتمل القسم الثانى على معادن وخامات اليورانيوم، وقد عولجت فى هذا القسم معادن اليورانيوم سواء الأولية أو الثانوية والمعادن الإضافية، وكذلك تصنيف لخامات اليورانيوم الإقتصادية حسب ما ورد بأحدث مطبوعات الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية.بالإضافة إلى ذلك فإنه يشتمل على تطور إنتاج اليورانيوم العالمى وأسعاره والطلب عليه خلال فترة من الزمان على المدى القصير والمدى الطويل.
أما القسم الثالث من هذا الكتاب فيعالج استكشاف وحساب احتياطيات خام اليورانيوم حيث يشتمل على طرق التنقيب عن اليورانيوم واستكشافه.
أما القسم الرابع من هذا الكتاب فيشتمل على موضوع عن الدول العربية والعصر النووى، فلم يكن من المعقول أن يتم إغفال ذلك. ويشتمل هذا القسم على منظومة متكاملة بداية من التعريف بدورة الوقود النووى حيث أنها تمثل العمود الفقرى لأى تقانة نووية متقدمة، ثم نبذه مختصرة عن الخامات النووية فى بعض الدول العربية بناءاً على المعلومات المنشورة المتاحة.
وقد تم ختام هذا القسم بموضوع شديد الأهمية وهو أهمية البرامج النووية للدول العربية مع الأخذ فى الإعتبار النواحى الإجتماعية والإقتصادية والإعتبارات الإستثمارية والبيئية والسياسية والإستراتيجية.
