يستعرض الكتاب نشأة المؤلف ورحلة كفاحه في المسرح والثقافة والفن الدرامي المسرحي البصري ، والعراقي عامة ، خلال ستينيات وتسعينيات القرن العشرين ومنها " الحقيقة " و " مواطن بلا استمارة " و " هو الذي يتحدثون عنه كثيراً " ، و " الليلة نقتل الطاغية " ، و " السيد يحدثكم من ساحة المدنية " ثم " غبار الزمن " . اعتبر النقاد أن مسرح عبد الصاحب إبراهيم صحوة غير عادية .. لجسد ولد نائماً للمسرح في البصرة .. وكان مسرحه صيحة جديدة .. بهالة مستجدة .. خلاقة وواعدة .. في الحياة المسرحية ، وأن كتاباته تشبه كتابات " بيتر فايس " في أنشودة أنكولا .. وصاموئيل بيكيت في ( الرماد ) ، وأنه وظف الواقع لقالب جديد من نبات أفكاره هو بالذات " لقد صنع مسرحه بنفسه .. وألبسه ثوباً من الحداثة العراقية المبتكرة " ...
