شاع في الأوساط الإجتماعية والثقافية وفي العقود الأخيرة مصطلح الحبُّ، وقد احتل حيزاً واسعاً في المجالات الإعلامية المشاهدة والمسموعة، وأحيط بإهتمام ملحوظ من لدن المتخصصين في كافة الميادين.
والحقُّ انَّ العاطفة تستحق كل ذلك الإهتمام لأنها هي التي تشكل الشخصية وتحدد المسار البشريَّ للناس، وفي الوقت الذي أغفلنا دور العاطفة وتأثيرها في الميادين الأخرى انبرى الآخرون في إستغلال عواطف الناس وتحويلها كلٌّ حسب مساره ووجهته، حتى طغى على الناس أن معنى الحب هو ذلك التجاذب الذي ينحصر بين الرجل والمرأة عن طريق الغرام فحسب، ولا وجود لنوع آخر من الحبِّ.
من هذا المنطلق جاء هذا الكتاب ليتحدث عن الحب وأسبابه وأنواعه وآثاره وذلك لخلو المكتبة الإسلامية - في الغالب - من كتاب يتحدث عن الحبِّ بكل أشكاله كما عرضها القرآن الكريم، فهي إما دينية صرفة محصورة في موضوع واحد، وإمّا غرامية لا تعرف الحديث عن الحب إلا وفق المنظور الغريزيِّ بعيداً عن العقلانية والإتزان.
والحقيقة أن القرآن قد تحدث عن قسمين رئيسيين من الحبِّ: القسم الأول: الحبُّ الغريزيُّ: وهو الميل العاطفي الذي يوجد مع الإنسان من غير جهد سلوكي في حيازته، والقسم الثاني: الحبُّ المكتسب: وهو الحبُّ الذي يحتاج للحصول عليه إلى المجاهدة وتربية السلوك؛ وقد تحدث المؤلف في هذا الباب عن معنى الحبِّ المكتسب، وأنواعه وضوابطه، وقواعد التعامل فيه.
وفي الفصل الأخير تحدث عن الحبِّ الأخويِّ، وتدابير وجوده، ونماذج لذلك النوع من الحبِّ، ودور الغريزة في الإنحياز إلى الحبِّ المكتسب أو الغريزة وما صدر عن القرآن الكريم من توجيه وتقويم للأمة بهذا الخصوص.
