تميزت دراستنا للموضوع أنها قائمة على شرح النصوص الخاصة بجريمة غسيل الأموال في القانون العراقي بهدف استظهار المعاني الصريحة والضمنية التي قصدها المشرع من تلك النصوص، وبيان مواقع الضعف والقوة فيها، ومناقشة آراء الفقه وأحكام القانون المقارن وتحليلها، مستعينين في ذلك بالاحكام والقرارات القضائية الصادرة في بعض الدول، ولقد آثرنا أن تكون هذه الدراسة مقارنة انسجاماً مع النهج الحديث في الدراسات القانونية ولما لها من خصائص تميزها من الدراسات المستقلة، إذ قارنا نصوص القانون العراقي بنصوص اتفاقية فينا للاتجار بالمخدرات والمؤثرات العقلية لسنة 1988.. إضافة إلى مقارنتها بالقوانين ذات الصلة في بعض الدول وعلى وجه التحديد القانون الأمريكي، والقانون الفرنسي، والقانون المصري، والقانون اللبناني والقانون الإماراتي.
وقسمنا الدراسة إلى أربعة فصول يسبقها فصل تمهيدي كتعريف عام بجريمة غسيل الأموال، وهي الفصل الأول: الركن المادي في جريمة غسيل الأموال، الفصل الثاني: الركن المعنوي في جريمة غسيل الأموال، الفصل الثالث: الركن الخاص (وجود جريمة سابقة) في جريمة غسيل الأموال، والفصل الرابع والأخير تناولنا فيه الجزاءات المقررة لجريمة غسيل الأموال، وأنهينا البحث بخاتمة تضمنت أهم الاستنتاجات.
