ويتناول هذا الكتاب الأول التحف المعدنية الإسلامية في بلاد إيران في الفترة منذ أواخر الدولة الساسانية قبيل حلول الإسلام واعتبار إيران ولاية إسلامية, وقد تخلل تلك الفترة سيطرة بعض الأسر الحاكمة من السلاجقة والمغول والتيموريين ثم الصفويين, تطور من خلالها فن التحف المعدنية في الشكل والأساليب الزخرفية وأساليب التشكيل الفنية, حيث تعد إيران من أهم الروافد التي ساهمت في بلورة الفن الإسلامي عامة والتحف المعدنية بصفة خاصة.
