تعمل دار النفائس منذ سنوات في إعادة كتابة تاريخ دول المسلمين بشكل علمي موضوعي، لا تحيُّز فيه ولا إنحراف، وفي هذا الإطار يأتي كتاب "تاريخ الدولة الصفوية" التي تعدًّ إحدى الدول السلطانية التي قامت في المشرق الإسلامي على أساس مذهبي، شيعي اثني عشري.
وقد تأسست في إيران سنة 1501م، وتوسعت شرقاً إلى خراسان وأفغانستان، وغرباً إلى أذربيجان والعراق وديار بكر، وشمالاً إلى بلاد الكرج.
ويفخر الإيرانيون بالدولة الصفوية لأنها أعادت وحدة إيران السياسية بعد مدة طويلة من التردّي السياسي والإجتماعي.
وسيجد القارئ في هذا الكتاب أن أصل التسمية يعود إلى الشيخ صفي الدين إسحق، الصوفي الشافعي، وأن أحد أحفاده تحوَّل إلى المذهب الشيعي وبدأ تأسيس الدولة، التي بلغت أوج قوَّتها في عهد الشاه عباس الأول، ثم بدأت بالتراجع، وانتهت سنة 1736م.
والمؤلف أستاذ جامعي، وأكاديمي مختص في التاريخ، وبخاصة التاريخ الإسلامي، اشتهر بدقته العلمية، وحياده، وأسلوبه الأدبي المميَّز، وقد نشرت له دار النفائس عدداً كبيراً من الكتب تناولت معظم التاريخ الإسلامي إن لم نقل كلَّه.
