يدور هذا الكتاب حول تاريخ عمان الحديث وهى تقع فى جنوب مشرق شبه الجزيزة العربية كونها منطقة ذات تاريخ عريق وحضارتها ارتبطت بحاضرة اليمن السعيدة ومع ذلك فلم تثر عمان عند دراسى التاريخ ما يستحق من اهتمام فان الكتب العربية والاجنبية التى بحثت بامانه ودقة فى تاريخ هذه المنطقة نادرة خاصة فى العصر الحديث الا ان العمانيين انفسهم درسوا هذا الموضوع كثيرا وكتبوا عنه كثيرا الا ان كتبهم ظلت موضوع تجاهل حتى كتابه هذا الكتاب ولذلك فقد جاء هذا الكتاب الذى يدرس تاريخ عمان بمللها او طوائف حكمها والعلاقات الدولية وقد شكلت الشهادات الشفويه والمكتوبه للعمانيين انفسهم المصدر الاساسى للدراسات .
