تعد الخطابة بشكل عام، من الأمور الأساسية التي تحتاجها الساحة الإسلامية في هذا العصر، ومع التقدم العلمي والثقافي، تطور فن الخطابة ليأخذ أبعاداً أخرى أكثر أهمية ونتيجة لأهمية الخطابة ولا سيما الخطابة الحسينية، ودورها في بناء شخصية المسلم فكرياً وعقائدياً من جهة، وشخصية الخطيب نفسه من جهة أخرى. جاءت هذه الدراسة لتبحث في (وضح منهج خطابي جديد لمعرفة أداء النعي بجميع أنواعه، وبصورة مفصلة لجميع الخطباء).
قسمت الدراسة الى أربعة أقسام هي: أولاً - من معالم الثورة الحسينية، وكربلاء والخطابة، والطرق التي مر بها الحسين (رضي الله عنه) مع ترجمة لأصحابها، كما جاء تعريف الشعر الفصيح، مع ذكر الشواهد والأوزان، ليتسنى للخطيب سهولة التعرف على الشعر واستعماله بصورة صحيحة. ثانياً - تعريف الأوزان، الشعرية مع أطوارها مع الشواهد والتعاريف، وخاصة الأطوار، والبحث في الروايات عن الفناء، وما هو المحرم منه، وما هو غير المحرم منه، والذي لا يناسب مجالس اللهو والطرب منها. ثالثاً - موضوعات متفرقة منها: الصوت الحسن بين الحلية والحرمة، ومنها: اختيار الصوت المناسب، ومنها: أمثلة الأطوار، ومنها: تمارين تطبيقية عامة. رابعاً: ذكر المناسبات السنوية الخاصة بالأشهر القمرية، من حيث الزمان والولادة، أو السنة.
