يعالج هذا الكتاب آثار أوضاع المجتمع العراقي التي بدأت مع بداية الإحتلال الأمريكي 2003 وحتى نهاية 2016، بدأ التوثيق الإجتماعي لها تحديداً عقب سيطرة تنظيم الدولة (داعش) على مدن الموصل وتكريت والأنبار في شمال وغرب العراق، كان المجال الزماني لهذا التوثيق على النحو الآتي:
1-التفسير الحضاري لمفهوم التواصل عند ابن خلدون، وهو ما شكّل القسم الأول، وقد تناول في فصول عدة مفهوم التواصل الحضاري، والمنهج والمجتمع العراقي، مع تغطية تاريخية لتشكيل الدولة العراقية الحديثة مطلع القرن العشرين مروراً بسيطرة تنظيم الدولة (داعش) على أكثر من ثلث العراق 2014/6/9 وحتى يوم 2015/2/21.
2-حقيقة الواقع المعاش وتشكل صوره، وهو ما شكّل القسم الثاني فقد غطى ميدانياً الفترة ما بعد 2015/2/21 وحتى 2016/8/1، وقد حلل في عموم هذا القسم الأوضاع الإجتماعية للمجتمع العراقي في ظل ثلاثة أنواع من السلطة، وهي سلطة الحكومة المركزية، وسلطة تنظيم الدولة (داعش)، وسلطة حكومة كردستان مع ما رافقها من آثار إجتماعية في فصول أخرى كانت إنعكاساً لهذه الأوضاع، أبرزها فصول الرفض والتمرد ثم القطع والتفرد الحضاريان، والوحدة الثقافية للمجتمع العراقي.
3-المرحلة الحضارية والنظرية الإجتماعية، وقد انطوى على تعقيد وتأصيل نظري لما آلت إليه أوضاع المجتمع العراقي في ما يمكن تسميته بالمرحلة الحضارية العراقية، وهو الفصل الثالث عشر، أما التطبيق للنظرية الإجتماعية فما كان عامّاً للمجتمع العراقي بنظريتي المجال الطويل ومجتمع المخاطر بالفصل الرابع عشر، وما كان خاصاً بمجتمع الموصل على الخصوص من نظريات عديدة، وقد تمثل بالفصل الخامس عشر، وقد شكلت المرحلة الحضارية والتطبيقات، القسم الثالث من البحث.
