التطبيع" ليس شعارًا قائمًا في ذاته، بل هو اختصار لعبارة "تطبيع العلاقات مع دولة الاحتلال"، وذلك في سياق عملية التسوية العربية - الإسرائيلية. لذا نرى أن القوى العربية المتمسّكة بالقضية الفلسطينية وعدالتها، والتي تعدّها قضيتها، وليست قضية الشعب الفلسطيني وحده، وترفض قبول إسرائيل جزءًا طبيعيًا من المنطقة، تتبنى رفض التطبيع بوصفه موقفًا بدهيًا، كما ترفض أن تكون العلاقات بإسرائيل علاقات طبيعية.
يضم هذا الكتاب مجموعة مختارة من بحوث مقدمة في مؤتمر "استراتيجية المقاطعة في النضال ضد الاحتلال ونظام الأبارتهايد الإسرائيلي: الواقع والطموح"، الذي عقده المركز العربي للأبحاث ودراسة السياسات في مدينة الحمّامات التونسية، بين 4 و6 آب/أغسطس 2016، وكان هدفه دراسة مسألة المقاطعة بوصفها أداةً من أدوات المقاومة الشعبية، وأسلوبًا من أساليب مقاومة الاحتلال الإسرائيلي. وشارك فيه عدد من الباحثين والخبراء العرب والأجانب. وقد وُزعت البحوث المشاركة في قسمين، اختص الأول بـ "حملات المقاطعة في الوطن العربي: التاريخ والمسارات"، وتناول الثاني "حملات المقاطعة دوليًا: تجارب ونماذج".
