وفي مجموعته القصصية "الضحك آخر الليل" يحاول أن يصف شوق الإنسان العادي إلى الحياة والحب والفرح وأيًا كان شكل هذه الكتابة فإنها لتمس الروح وتدل أضلاع الحاضر ناثرة أمامنا جملتها الاعتراضية الطويلة التي أخذت منه عمره ولم يمل أو يتعب من تصدير الأسئلة القلقة أو الصراخ ذاته.
