ظهرت فكرة الكتاب كقضية مصيرية تستحق الاهتمام بالمناقشة والتوضيح وإبداء الرأي، فهي قضية من ذلك النوع الذي تتحقق فيه صفة البقاء أو الاندثار. خاصة في هذه الأونة التي يتعرض فيها عالمنا العربى بصفة خاصة لهجمة وحشية شرسة، هدفها استباحة دمه وأرضه وتراثه ودينه، وتفتيته، والقضاء عليه، ليس من أعدائه في الخارج، ولكن أيضا من بعض من يعيشون داخله. من ثم كان اهتمام مؤلفتا الكتاب، وهو محاولة وضع كتاب تربوي يسهم في توضيح مهارات إدارة الحياة ودور التربية والتعليم في بناء إنسان يمكنه إدارة حياته، وتنمية ذاته، ويكون مرجعاً في بناء الإنسان العربى وإمداده بمهارات تساعده في إدارة حياته بنجاح، فيحقق الرضا لنفسه في الحياة، ويخدم وطنه ويحفظه.ولم يكن الأمر سهلاً هيناً، فالموضوع المطروح متشابك متداخل كأنه بكرة من الحرير اختلطت خيوطها، وعلى من يتقدم لحلها أن يتصف بالصبر والهدوء والإصرار، حتى يمكنه فك تشابك خيوطها، ويعيدها سوية يمكن الإمساك بطرف الخيط الأول فيها، حتى الانتهاء إلى آخر طرف فيها. مما كان حافراً للتقدم في فصول الكتاب، فصلا وراء فصل، حتى خرج الكتاب في شكله الحالي.وقد خرج الكتاب في شكل تربوي ، يميل إلى التنمية البشرية، يغلفه شيء من الفلسفة، يمتلئ بشحنة من مبادئ الدين والعقيدة، وأسس التربية الحديثة، والتعلم المستمر. ولا عجب في ذلك فهذا من مقتضيات موضوع الكتاب؛ فبناء الإنسان، والنجاح في إدارة الحياة يتطلب من المرء أولاً الإيمان بالله سبحانه وتعالى، والالتزام بمبادئ الدين والعقيدة، والعمل بها، والنشأة التربوية الصحيحة، والحرص على تنمية الذات، وامتلاك مهارات تنميتها، والعمل على اكتساب وتعلم ومواكبة كل جديد نافع في الحياة، يصاغ كل هذا في وجود تصور فلسفي لدى كل فرد أو رؤية خاصة به تختلف عن غيره من الأفراد في إدارة حياته وتحقيق السعادة.
