"طرحت الأزمة العالمية التي أحدثتها جائحة “كوفيد-19” تساؤلات جدية حول مستقبل النظام الدولي الراهن، وتوازنات القوى الدولية في المستقبل المنظور، وأنماط علاقات التعاون والصراع على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي. كما أعادت الجدل من جديد حول العديد من المفاهيم والمبادئ التي حكمت هذا النظام في العقود الأخيرة، مثل مفاهيم العولمة والسيادة ودور الدولة الوطنية والتكامل الإقليمي والدولي والحوكمة، وغيرها. وتجادل هذه الدراسة بأن جائحة “كوفيد-19” لن تُحدث تحولات جذرية في بنية النظام الدولي الراهن، مثلما يتوقع كثير من الباحثين والخبراء، ولكنها ستعزز الاتجاهات التي كانت سائدة بالفعل من قبل مثل: إبطاء مسار العولمة وتزايد الانكفاء على الذات، واتجاه موازين القوى الدولية إلى مزيد من التوزيع والتعددية، مع تنامي حدة الطابع الصراعي/التنافسي بين القوى الكبرى، ولا سيما الولايات المتحدة والصين. كما تؤكد الدراسة على ضرورة أن تشكل هذه الأزمة وما نتج عنها من تأثيرات خطيرة على جميع المستويات حافزاً لجميع دول العالم، وقواه الرئيسية بصورة خاصة، للعمل على بناء نظام عالمي جديد أكثر تضامناً وتعاوناً في مواجهة الأخطار المشتركة، خاصة في ظل تعاظم التهديدات المحيطة بالبشرية جميعها. ورغم أن هذه الدعوة مثالية، فإنها تمثل – بحسب الدراسة – الطريق الوحيد، ربما، لتحقيق السلام والاستقرار والرفاه والعيش المشترك لجميع الدول والشعوب."
