هذا الكتاب تتمة لكتاب "أمريكا الإسرائيلية وفلسطين الهندية الحمراء" ولكن الموضوعين مستقلان يمكن قراءتهما بشكل منفصل يغطي كل جزء منهما مرحلة زمنية مختلفة، وفي المرحلة الزمنية التي يتناولها هذا الجزء من دراسة الحروب الهندية، نشبت معارك المقاومة بعد الحرب الأهلية الأمريكية حيث توقف الجزء الأول، وتركزت هذه المعارك في منطقة السهول العظمى الواقعة في وسط القارة بين نهر المسيسبي شرقاً وجبال روكي غرباً، وذلك بعدما تم إكتساح الاطراف وظل الإعتقاد الشائع بأن هذه السهول "صحراء أمريكية كبرى" لا تصلح للزراعة والإقامة، ومن هنا كان تأجيل الطمع فيها.
وسيكون محور الحديث في هذا الكتاب هو الحرب الطويلة المستمرة إلى يومنا هذا منذ ذلك الوقت والتي خاضتها قبيلة "سو" Sioux الغربية، كما يسميها البيض أو لاكوتا Lakota بالتسمية المحلية وهي إحدى أكبر القبائل.
