في هذا الكتاب دراسة للهجرة العاملية إلى إيران في العصر الصفدي، أسبابها التاريخية ونتائجها الثقافية والسياسية. وبالعودة لمضمون الدراسة نجد أنها قد جاءت محتوية على أربعة أبواب، تناول الباب الأول الإطار التاريخي للفترة التي يتحرك فيها البحث، وركز على السمات التي هيأت لأحداثه وأدوار أبطاله، وتتبع خطين تاريخيين التقيا عند الهجرة، هما: نمو وتصاعد الحركة الصفوية، الصفوية-الشيعية، والدافع المحرك للأحداث المتجهة إلى إنها ما بقي من الدولة البيزنطية.
أما الباب الثاني فحدد معالم النهضة العلمية الشيعية التي انطلقت من "جبل عامل" خلال تتبع إطاراتها في التاريخ، ودراسة بطلها "محمد بن مكي الجزيني"، واستخراج وجهها السياسي، كحركة تطلعت إلى لم سعت الشيعة في المنطقة، بعد أن شتتهم المماليك. وتحدث الباب الثالث عن الوجه الشيعي لإيران ما قبل الهجرة، أما الباب الرابع والأخير فخصص للتعريف بالمهاجرين وأدوارهم، بدءاً بأولهم وأبعدهم أثراً، على بن عبد العالي الكركي، وانتهاءً بأشهرهم "بهاء الدين العاملي". كما ودرس هذا الباب الميادين التي كان للمهاجرين أثر بارز فيها والتي هي الترجمة التأليف، نفوذ الفقهاء.
