تأتي أهميّة كتاب "روضة الأزهار وبهجة النفوس ونزهة الأبصار" لمؤلّفه أبي عليّ الحسن بن عليّ بن خلف الأمويّ الخطيب القرطبي (ت 602 هـ)، من عدّة مصادر أهمّها: أوّلاً: أنّه يمثّل الثقافة العامّة التي كانت سائدة في الأندلس خلال عصر المؤلّف، أي عصر الخلافة الموحّديّة، ويكشف لنا عن مدى تطابق هذه الثقافة مع ما كان سائداً من عناصرها خلال العهود الأندلسيّة التي سبقت عصر الموحّدين.
ثانيّاً: أنّه يوفر لنا بعض المعلومات عن الحياة العلميّة والأدبيّة الأندلسيّة في عصر الموحّدين، إذ وردت فيه أخبار وإرشادات عن بعض الأعلام الأندلسيّين في الأدب والنحو واللّغة في ذلك العصر والعصور السابقة له.
ثالثاً: أنّه يكشف لنا عن جوانب من ثقافة المؤلّف وسيرته وعلاقاته وفكره ومنهجه.
