يسلط هذا الكتاب الضوء على أسرة عريقة في سورية هي "أسرة آل المقيّد" وهي من الأسر الشهيرة في حلب معروفة منذ القديم بالوجاهة والرئاسة والعلم والفضل، وقد لقبوا بهذا اللقب لأن أحد أجدادهم السيد مصطفى أفندي كان مقيداً الأحكام الشرعية في المحكمة الكبرى العليا بحلب، وقد عرف بالأمانة والإستقامة، وكان من العائلة أيضاً علماء أجلاء، وقضاة فضلاء، وشعراء وأدباء، ومحامون وأطباء، وقد ترك هؤلاء كمّاً لا يستهان به من الشعر الجميل والنثر البديع، فكان لهذا الكتاب "روضة الأزهار في تاريخ آل المقيد الأخيار" فضل عظيم حيث جمع ما أبدعته أيدي أولئك الأدباء، وأورد الكثير من الشعر والنثر الذي أنتجته قرائهم، أو أبدعته يراع غيرهم، كما تضمن الكتاب تراجم لعدد من أبناء هذه الأسرة الكريمة، حيث سرد أخبارهم، وعرض لأحوالهم، بأسلوب سلس رقيق، سهل أنيق، هذا، فضلاً عما حواه من معلومات مفيدة تعطينا صورة ما عن أهوال عهد لا يزال قريباً منا، وأحداثه غير بعيدة عنا.
