تتميز الفلسفة الغربية المعاصرة بطابعها التركيبي، وهذا التركيب لا يظهر على مستوى المدرسة الفلسفية الواحدة فحسب، في تقديمها لمقاربات وشخصيات متعددة وأنماط مختلفة من التأويل، بل يظهر على مستوى الفيلسوف الواحد، الذي تجده يجمع بين إتجاهات ومناهج وتصورات متعددة في تركيب فلسفي واحد، وهي أيضاً فلسفة نسبية غير دوغمائية، إذ لا يعتبر الفيلسوف المعاصر نظرياته وأفكاره أكثر من كونها وجهات نظر، أو إن شئت قبل مجرد تأويلات مرجحة.
ولذلك تميل الفلسفة المعاصرة إلى تجاوز النظر إلى الأشياء من زوايا أو منظومات نسقية مجردة ومطلقة، كما هو الحال في الفلسفة الحديثة، والأهم من كل ذلك، هو إتجاه الفلسفة المعاصرة إلى الحياة العملية، والتفكير بالتالي، في القضايا الفلسفية إنطلاقاً من مقولة الفعل.
أريد من خلال هذا البحث أن أمسك بزمام حقل الفعل وخصائصه في فلسفة ريكور، بإعتباره مجالاً للتأويل وفهم الإنسان لنفسه، وتكمن أهمية هذا البحث في أنه يمكن أن يعد محاولة لقراءة الفلسفة الغربية من خلال مقولة الفعل، وهي قراءة تتعلم من الفلسفة الغربية عامة، ومن فلسفة ريكور خاصة، وتتجاوز في الفلسفة العربية هرمينوطيقا ظلت تهتم بحقل النصوص في الفلسفة الغربية المعاصرة وإشكالياتها الإبستيمولوجية، وفي إنتظار تطبيقها على الفلسفة العربية التي تشهد منذ نشوئها إهتماماً واسعاً بالمسائل المعرفية، وبمسائل التأصيل الفلسفي الذي لا ينتهي أبداً عند مبدأ ثابت في الفلسفة الغربية، دون العناية بشكل كاف بالحياة العملية التي ظلت مشوشة وغامضة، فإن الغاية من فلسفة الفعل أن تساهم في إعطائنا المفاهيم والأدوات التي تساعدنا على قراءة واقعنا العملي الإنساني قصد تحويله.
