هذا الكتاب سهلة المتناول في دلالات الألفاظ في أصول الفقه؛ تتعلق بمواضيع في تفسير النصوص الشرعية وأثرها في الإستنباط.
وقد وُطّئ لهذه الخلاصة بمقدمة في تعريف أصول الفقه ونشأة هذا العلم، ولمحات من تاريخه.
ثم تحدث المؤلف عن الدلالات وأقسام الدلالة، وعرّج على مبحث الإجتهاد وصفات المجتهد، وذكر نماذج من طرق الإستنباط والإجتهاد، ليدخل بذلك إلى مباحث الألفاظ من حيث دلالتها على المعاني عند الجمهور، وتقسيماتها لديهم، ثم عرض أقسام دلالة الألفاظ عند الحنفية.
ثم فصّل المؤلف في بيان مباحث دلالة الألفاظ من حيث الإيضاح والإبهام، متطرّقاً إلى المتشابه والمؤول، ومباحث دلالات الأمر والنهي، والخاص والعام، والمطلق والمقيد، والمشترك، والألفاظ المترادفة.
وقد أتبعَ المؤلفُ كتابه هذا بدراسة عن العام والتخصيص وما يتعلق بهما من أحكام.
