النجاشي هو قيس بن عمرو بن مالك من بني الحارث بن كعب، كان من أنصار الإمام علي (ع) في صفين بلسانه ويده، ولكنه لم يستطع مواصلة السير على الطريق المستقيم، فقد شرب الخمر في شهر رمضان، دعا فيه الإمام علي (ع) بالحد فهرب إلى معاوية.
وهذا الكتاب الذي نطالعه يضم شعره وضعها المؤلف وقفاً من خلاله عن بعض خواصه في الشكل والمضمون.
